Pay: $68,000 – $72,000 per year (DOE)

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in office and 2 days remotely, year-round. This is not a fully remote positon.)

JBBBSLA provides mentoring services, teen empowerment programs, college support, and year-round camp experiences at Camp Bob Waldorf. Their mission is to assist children in achieving their full potential through innovative, impactful programs.

Job Summary

The Mentoring Services Program Manager works closely with the VP of Mentoring Services to lead the department, overseeing enrollment, matching, and match support functions. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring child safety and fostering positive relationships and impact for youth, as well as ensuring high-level customer service and promoting meaningful engagement with JBBBSLA for all constituents. Additionally, the Program Manager will provide some direct service, and serve as a Mentor Trainer and Matchforce Administrator, supporting data and reporting functions.

Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise enrollment, matching, and match support functions, ensuring compliance with BBBS standards
  • Oversee staff hiring, onboarding, workload distribution, and Matchforce training.
  • Conduct team trainings, QA reviews and individual coaching in support of staff growth and development
  • Make difficult decisions regarding constituents and matches, utilizing outstanding professional judgment and insight
  • Monitor child safety scores.
  • Support VP with data functions and provide relevant reports and dashboards for team

Enrollment & Matching:

  • Develop and oversee standardized, documented protocols for all enrollment functions
  • Schedule info sessions and pre-match trainings at regular intervals, while adapting to changing needs.
  • Monitor enrollment pipeline and hold staff accountable for thoroughness, efficiency and quality assessments and services.
  • Conduct enrollments and match introduction meetings as needed
  • Oversee match selection processes in support of strong and appropriate match relationships.

Match Support:

  • Maintain familiarity with match population to ensure child safety, as well as healthy, rewarding experiences for Bigs and Littles.
  • Conduct scheduled match support contacts, modeling outstanding documentation for staff.
  • Provide support and interventions for challenging matches.
  • Administer and utilize surveys to evaluate programmatic effectiveness and impact on youth.
  • Help develop and execute ongoing training opportunities for volunteers

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in a BBBS agency with a history of outstanding performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, child development, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Outstanding leadership, coaching and supervision skills.
  • Exceptional professional judgment and interpersonal insight applied to complex processes and difficult decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to accurately capture nuance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and in Matchforce database, reports and dashboards.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
